So much unpleasantness could have been prevented if only Marie Antoinette had offered the population of France good cake from 2tarts Bakery in downtown New Braunfels. The people wouldn’t have risen up because they would have been totally happy.
Good cake and everything else that is served at 2tarts starts with good ingredients. They are dedicated to making everything from scratch using only the best ingredients, sourced as locally as possible, and from as many fellow downtowners as they can. They’ve adopted the motto, “Good cake isn’t cheap and cheap cake isn’t good.” Which certainly doesn’t mean that their products are more expensive. If an ingredient isn’t available or has gone way up in price, they simply adjust the menu to something affordable while continuing to use the best ingredients, the ones their loyal customers have come to expect.
When sisters April Weilbacher and Ashley Landerman opened 2tarts Bakery in July of 2010 they already had been working as a team since before they could remember. They, along with their husbands, Eric Weilbacher and Pete Landerman, work hard to make sure day to day operations run smoothly. April says, “Mom Tart is a co-owner of the bakery as well and is the official mascot. Her love of community and passion for people is infectious.” Ashley agrees and adds, “That makes her the perfect choice as the voice and face of the bakery at outside community events and festivals.” The whole team are perfectionists and are always striving to improve everything they serve, from the vast array of pastries to their delicious single-sourced coffee.
2tarts Bakery has become a solid mainstay in the ever-thriving downtown scene. But they are also very busy serving an approximate 70 mile radius of New Braunfels with birthdays, weddings, graduations and seasonal events. They make over 400 birthday cakes alone every year. That keeps the owners not just busy IN their business but also they’re constantly working ON their business by attending workshops and conferences around the country all in an effort to keep and maintain the highest level of products and services.
