After much debate, New Braunfels Mayor Barron Casteel was the deciding 4-3 vote as City Council approved a ban on cell phone and other device usage while in a motor vehicle on city streets. The ordinance goes in to effect immediately, with a grace period for public awareness until November 1, 2015.
